Delightful gift!

I received Mystical Delights as a gift and am very pleased. It has inspiring poems, some intriguing quotations from the poets, and a wonderful commentary. The commentary helped me get more out of the poetry than I ever thought I would. The book has some gems about advanced experiences of meditation and enlightenment, mixed in with a discussion of the mystical experiences of the poets. The poems are by great poets from all times and climes. I felt they lifted me into a higher reality. In the chapter about the mystical power of poetry, there's a quotation from Coleridge that "Inspiration is the infinite I AM reverberating in the Imagination." I think that state of consciousness comes thru in this book. Reading the poems, I have come to understand in a new way how we need the inspired words of those poets who are able to feel and express the motions of their souls. I hope that you enjoy the Mystical Delights anthology as much as I did.

Cross cultural poetry & comments that expand your mind

This fabulous collection of mystical poetry actually seems to expand the reader's mind. Mystical experiences, by nature, are difficult to describe. Through the ages and through many cultures great mystics have come closest to the description in poetry. To have such a wide variety of sources in one book is a great delight.Hilary Huttner has done more than just collect these gems. She has drawn on her own meditation experiences and training to organize the poems as they relate to various stages of consciousness. To have an experience described by several different poets from different cultures and times helps illuminate it from several angles. The consistancy of the descriptions lends a concreteness to the validity of the experience. The poetry itself stimulates a taste of that state in the mind of the reader.The book is well named - it gives a glimpse of "Mystical Delights."
