'Snakes and Ladders' is like the path of life, and is the name for my series of memoirs where I have written about my adventures in life, sometimes advancing up 'Ladders' as wonderful opportunities arose and then when things went wrong, being swallowed by the 'Snakes' and going down on the play board of life My first memoir My Road to Paradise' covers my early years from 1972 when I started my hotel apprenticeship at The Savoy in London aged 17 and how my personality developed through these life changing experiences. Woodbridge Publishers viewed the book to be a compelling and a richly layered memoir, that chronicles the author's formative journey through elite hospitality, personal ambition, and lived experience during a transformative period in British social history. The manuscript combines humour, honesty, and sharp observation to present a deeply human account of work, hierarchy, resilience, and self-discovery. The narrative voice is authentic and reflective, allowing readers to engage naturally with both the author's personal development and the broader cultural context of the time.
