MY LORD PIRATE sizzles

MY LORD PIRATE, the debut novel from Laura Renken, is an absolutely fabulous, nail biting, edge- of -your- seat, heavy sigh historical romance. I suggest you clear an entire day on your calendar for this one, dear readers, because I did not want to put it down! MY LORD PIRATE is filled with swashbuckling adventure, evil villains, an alpha male hero who will leave you breathless, a wonderful identifiable heroine, and some of the greatest love scenes out there.

After reading a great book, a reader often feels as though the characters were real, the location somewhere she had visited and she wishes she had been a part of the story. MY LORD PIRATE by newcomer Laura Renken is such a book. I never wanted the story to end, as Ms. Renken's writing style was superb, placing me in the midst of the action and giving the characters life and soul. Once I picked up MY LORD PIRATE, I could not put it down! I was hooked on the story by the end of the first page, in love with the characters by the end of the first chapter, and a devoted Laura Renken reader by the end of the book. MY LORD PIRATE will sail into the hearts of readers everywhere, as it is a tale of realistic characters, pulse-pounding adventure and an unequaled love.The heroine, Regan Welles, is determined to become a nun on her island home of Martinique. Traveling to nearby Jamaica for the betrothal ball of her brother Harrison Kendrick, the governor of Jamaica, was to be her last voyage before taking up the veil. Laura Renken's My Lord Pirate is a truly an award winning novel. Fast moving and full of twists and turns, it will leave you turning the pages and staying on edge right until the very end. Talon Drake is a man determined to seek vengeance against the Welles family who falsely accused his family of treason. He seeks revenge in plotting to abduct Arabella, the bride of William Welles stepson Harrison Kendrick. However when his crew mistakenly kidnaps the wrong woman and takes Regan Welles, Arabella's cousin and Harrison's stepsister, the adventure begins. Reagan is horrified to learn her abductor is none other than Talon Drake, the man she believes had her parents killed. During her captivity Reagan leans the real truth about what happened and discovers a treasure in Talen's heart o f gold. MY LORD PIRATE will quickly absorb the reader into the story. They will discover two characters who have suffered not only physical but mental hardships throughout their lives. Talon and Regan are very deserving of the magic that love can offer them. I found myself hating to see the end of the these wonderfully memorable characters in this enchanting novel.

Wow!

I'd read so many glowing reviews for this book, that I wondered if it could live up to them. It most certainly does. Wow! My Lord Pirate truly deserves the Romantic Top Pick from Romantic Times magazine, and the hero, Talon Drake, is a hero I won't forget. The action is nonstop and fast pace, but it never once overshadows the sizzling romance that develops between Talon and the heroine, Regan. There are so many layers to the characters that they practically step off the pages. Yes, My Lord Pirate lives up to its glowing reviews and then some.

Historical romance lovers are in for a treat!

MY LORD PIRATE is non-stop action and heart-wrenching emotion from cover to cover. Talon is a complex character, justified in his desires to right the wrongs done to him and his family, he's strong and determined where necessary, yet compassionate--a character deserving of the title 'hero'. Poor Regan is a loving, caring, very passionate woman torn between her desire and love for a man completely justified in his hatred for her family, and her need to protect what remains of her own family. This deadly feud between the Drakes and Welles makes for a spell-binding Romeo and Juliet on the High Seas.
