My Funny Valentine Series: Not Everything that Glitters is Gold

By Jenn Ekeoba

Kenya Jones is turning thirty, but the psychology resident isn't throwing confetti to celebrate her dull life. Things take an unexpected turn when the self-proclaimed feminist meets the man of her dreams...Lawrence Washington, a handsome lawyer with irresistible charm and a killer smile. Lawrence is the guy who has everything or so it seems. His gilded life is designed to shield the world from demons that constantly haunt him but it's no cure for loneliness. The kismet meeting with Kenya makes Lawrence wonder if she could be exactly what he's been missing, but one thing stands in his way: his best friend and Kenya's big brother, Paul. The former NFL linebacker only wants the best for his little sister and playboy Lawrence ain't it. Lawrence is unaccustomed to hearing NO, so he makes it his mission to teach his homie a lesson. A Memorial Day weekend trip is the perfect stage for Lawrence's seduction but his well-laid plans may blow up in his face. This Summer will be one Kenya and Lawrence won't forget.
