Get ready to read about the most active centenarian you'll ever encounter. At age 102, Waldo McBurney is not only writing books, but is setting international track and field records as a senior... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Mr. McBurney's life has been a long and interesting one. I was especially impressed with the fact that his father lived 40+ years after his first stroke in part because of his doctor who was ahead of his time in his treatment. The author was wise at a young age to see that it might work for him, too. Faith, exercise, fresh fruits and vegetables, with a bit of honey - it's really quite simple. Why don't more of us follow that path? I listened to the audio book and while a professional actor's voice might have been stronger with more inflection, Mr. McBurney's own voice lent an authenticity to the reading that could not be duplicated.
A great unique view of life!

R. Waldo McBurney definitely has a great sense of humor and healthy habits that we should all look at today. I read this brief book and thought it was really great. I initially discovered McBurney as one of the oldest working Americans during a news interview while surfing the 'net. The author's quick wit and solid upbringing, as well as his perseverence to continue to lead an active lifestyle is reflected in this book. Many of the same things he said during his interview were also in this book, but the book provides much more detail into his thoughts. If I live to his age, I hope to write another follow-up to his book to reflect its validity.

I first became aware of this book when I learned that my friend Micah Forman is the author's grandson! I enjoyed the book so much I passed it along to many family members and friends. What an inspiration to be so active and healthy at such an advanced age!
One of the Best!

This is one of the best books I read these days. Not only because this author is unique (how many authors write books at 100+?), but also because it is concise (less than 100 pages). I believe life style played the most important role because as we can see his second wife is also healty and lingevous. Strong faith in God, physically active, eating fresh food are three primary life style "ingredients" for his health and longevity. My mothor's life style shared the above three ingredients and she also had the longevity.

Mr. McBurney who started distance running at age 65 will be 103 on Oct 3, 2005. He has wisdom and a prescription we can all use to lead a happy, healthy, faith filled life. The book is an easy read and one you will read in one sitting and then want to read again. It worth the price of the book just to read the 5 pages in chapter 16 that give 21 possible answers to how a man 100 years young can continue beekeeping and winning gold medals in track and field events. Do yourself a favor and buy this book and, more important, learn from it.
