Dementia is a disease that most people know about. When I say "My dad has FTD." I get blank stares, so I qualify that with, "It's frontotemporal dementia." The response then is usually a nod, along with a question. "Oh, so he has Alzheimer's?"No, my dad does not have Alzheimer's. He has FTD. Frontotemporal lobar degeneration affects the frontal lobe and the temporal lobe of the brain. He remembers me and my siblings. He knows who his wife is. But he can no longer figure out how to work the remote for the T.V. He no longer drives. He has a severe stammer that he never had before. This book is a photo essay showing my dad now as compared to how he was before this disease began to change him, to take him away. Incorporated in this essay are memories from family and friends telling you how he was. I have also included some facts about FTD to help you understand a little about this disease and a list of resources if you want to know more. This book is being sold as a fundraiser for FTD research. The profits are being collected and sent to theaftd.org. If you do not wish to purchase this book, that's ok, but please consider donating. This is the second most common form of dementia among people UNDER 65. This means it could happen to you. Let's find a cure for this disease. Thank you.
