My Brother's Keeper . . .

By William R. Ablan

In the real world, whenever a crime is committed, we don't have to prove a motive. All we have to prove is that someone did it.
But when a detective is shot in the chest by another police officer, motive becomes very important.
Was it some kind of insane accident? After all, the Officer who did the shooting had been assaulted and might have been incoherent.
Or is something else going on here? Was this a setup for murder? it did happen almost in the middle of nowhere with no one around.
That's the question Sheriff Will Diaz and his team must answer. What happened out at the Colorado/New Mexico state line early on a Sunday morning and why?
