Shamunda, village located at the foot of a hill, is very famous among its counterparts because of its rich history and also for the beautiful undulating nature of its topography. Shamunda has all it takes to be a special village and tourists come from far and near to appreciate the wildlife associated with the hill from which the village got its name. It has a rich culture, with majority of its inhabitants being farmers. Farming is practiced year-round, assisted by irrigation from the river during the dry season. It was associated with many warriors for which it became famous. The caves in the hill provided hiding places for the inhabitants during wars. From here, the warriors would shoot their special arrows at the enemies who were unable to see them. Not many villages could challenge the village of Shamunda in battle. There is a river on the eastern border of the village which flows year-round. Its meandering feature is a sight to behold, especially when viewed from the hilltop. The river harbours many species festival. In fact, people say that there were crocodiles in certain section of the river.
