An excellent rendition for children and English language learners

What makes this edition different from many children's Bible stories is that J. Cheryl Exum is a professor of the Hebrew Bible. The stories have been simplified without being opinionated, and dummied down. She and Alice Bach have tried to stay close to the original content and context and have added scholarly notes. They have chosen some of the less popular stories and concentrated on the women of the Bible. Leo and Diane Dillon's illustrations are very good.
