If you're not sure what this book is about, read this first!

I just ordered this for my dad for christmas and was surprised by it. If you are looking for a large, beautiful coffee-table book filled with Kunstler's civil war paintings, you might want to keep looking. This book is TINY! I was completely surprised. It's no more than 5 or 6 inches tall. I was expecting a 12 inch book, or even larger, and to my surprise it's almost palm-sized. So the fully glory of his wonderful paintings seems somewhat diminshed when you have to squint to make out details. That was the most disappointing part of the book. Other than that, Mort Kunstler was a wonderful painter, and this book has a rather full gallery of his works depicting Southern troops in the Civil War, along with a few blurbs talking about the history behind the piece, etc. Still a good buy, even if I'm disappointed in the size of it.

Carry me back to Dixie

This beautiful little book contains some of Mort Kunstler's most beautiful depictions of the South during her fight for independence. From his touching "Till Weet Again" of Stonewall Jackson bidding his wife farewell, to "I Will be Moving Within the hour" showing a consultation between Lee, Jackson, Longstreet, and Stuart, to "We Still Love You, General Lee" which captures the pain and dedication of Appomattox. This Book is beautiful, touching, and ispriring. The perfect addition to the Confederate library.
