Sulley and Mike work at Monsters, Inc., the biggest scream processing plant in Monstropolis. When one little child named Boo wanders into their world, it's the monsters who are scared silly. Thinking she is dangerous and toxic, Sulley and Mike do their best to return Boo to her bedroom, but there are some monstrous hurdles in their way.
What at first sight seems like a bizarre offering - a manga version of a hit Western animated feature film, and coming out a long time after the theatrical release - is in fact a must-have!Tokyopop and Hiromi Yamafuji have created a delightful rework of the film, drawn in classic manga style. It is a little disconcerting to see the well-known characters in a new light, but it quickly becomes refreshing and highly enjoyable to a Western reader (like me). The story is 'adapted' too - for example, the Himalayan scene is gone, much of the dialogue is changed, but somehow it all works wonderfully and you never get the sense that it's 'wrong'.In short, I love this book. A great addition to my burgeoning collection of M.I. stuff... :)
