Five Golden Rules Are Tight: Two Thumbs Up!

This book was given too me by my secret santa from our book club. I loved it and hung on so many of Jodie's words. The 5 golden rules are "tight," as my 9-year-old would say. Rule Number One: Treat Your Children The Way You Want to be Treated. This is explained as not asking your kids to do or say things that you would not do yourself. Be a good role model and treat children with respect, just like the adults in your life so they will do the same for you. My three kids loved this rule. Rule Number Two: Know Your Children's Ages and Stages. She suggests to know what your kids can or cannot do and don't expect too much too soon but don't be reserved in teaching them the things that are important to every family. Every child is not on a time chart, but read a book on 2 year old's before you think your toddler should be able to hurry up, follow explicit instructions or button their own coat, etc., there are tons of examples.Rule Number Three: Teach Your Children Responsibility. She says that giving children chores is an excellent way to teach responsibility and to get the help you need to get things done. Sharing household chores as well as sibling and pet assignments work well in all homes if everyone pitches in and does their own part. I see things my kids could be doing to help out more but felt like I would do a better job and get it done faster. Now, I have back tracked, revamped the chores and who can do them and I must say it is AMAZING. When I let go of the control, I gained free time to do other things and the kids seem to be pretty proud of their own work building self-esteem.Rule Number Four: Squash The Overscheduling Dilemma. She shows us how to take a long hard look at exactly what we are doing to not only ourselves but to our kids too involving too many activities. There are things we were doing and had planned that we knew we wanted to do but just did not have the time without feeling totally overwhelmed. We revamped our schedule for the spring and the summer and lifted a huge dark cloud out of our mind and off our shoulders. Now, I think we will all be much happier and our year looks balanced.Rule Number Five: Don't Forget the Little Things That Count:Mrs. Lynn was a recent guest on a radio show talking about wising up for the new year with new family time and real "Mommy Time." She says to have a date with one child at a time doing simple things and to always have a "date" with your husband at least once a month. She even offers samples of meaningful ideas for easy dates - nothing fancy. We all forget how important little things are but how much they mean to the individuals in the family contributing to the success of a happy home. I am so totally guilty of this.As anyone with half a brain can see, the book has great insight and thoughtful content and rates TWO THUMBS UP for moms who take their roles seriously. Each rule can be inspiring goals for anyone's life including grandparents, teachers and child care work

Great Ideas and Gives God a Boost Too!

I read a lot, guilty or not, this has been one of my favorites. It has been recommended on Dr. Laura's website as... It gives God a boost as the real leader and the real soother of moms who view their children as their ultimate careers. Working or not working, Mrs. Lynn offers everyone a platform to speak out on... we were told that it is the combination of books that offer the best advice - and especially if the author can keep the image and the point clear and simple making it powerful and timeless. CONGRATUALTIONS to.. Mrs. Lynn on snuffing the so called experts on mumbo jumbo and showing us what is really important: today, tomorrow and certainly -- yesterday. :))

... Rates Mommy-CEO 5 Stars!

... I have had the opportunity to review many parenting books, and this is by far my favorite! There's nothing worse than parenting advice from a childless, so-called "parenting expert" -- you won't have that problem here! Jodie Lynn shares her real life parenting experiences and also offers advice from other parents -- the REAL experts! Instead of trying to repair behavioral problems, Jodie Lynn suggests you prevent them by teaching your children respect and responsibility at an early age. This advice makes so much sense as opposed to sitting back years down the road and wondering what went wrong. The best part is she doesn't just tell you to teach them, she tells you HOW to teach them by following her "Five Golden Rules"! Mommy-CEO should be required reading for new parents -- I'm so glad I discovered it while my children are still very young. This book would make an excellent shower gift for the soon-to-be parents!

Mommy-CEO: 5

This book is a MUST HAVE! I wish that I would have picked up Mommy CEO before I began my company. Running a successful bussiness from home is a challenge in itself but throw in the factor of running a business and raising a baby/toddler along with all the other responsibilities that come with running a family and that can equal to some serious choas. I realize now that not only am I CEO of my business but also CEO of my family. When I took this wonderful new paradigm shift and put it into action it did wonders not only for my family but also for my business. I went from what seemed like total choas and stress to a peaceful harmony. Jodie Lynn stresses not to forget the little things in life -- as they are the REAL essence to life and happiness! She couldn't be more right and it's often all too easy to forget that if you're living in a state of chaos. I have recommended this book to all 70 mom entrepreneuers that comprise my site ...

Great Book For The ENTIRE Family!

I can only relay positive feedback on Mommy-CEO...the NEW Revised Version. This is a great book that covers so many aspects from teaching responsibility and accountability to your children to the "little things" such as hugs and an appreciative comment to your children. More than that, I find this book to be an enhancement to the entire family and not just to your relationship with your children. The q & a format makes it easy to read and refer to and the pages reserved for "notes" is another unique feature which will make for an interesting read as your family grows. Mommy-CEO offers much wisdom and practical advice as well as a very important message to all famililies...respect and appreciate difference. Whether it be your children's tastes in food, the difference in their school performance, their active or passive personalities or having a child with special needs and disabilities. Take every difference and unique experience with your children as a gift, and it will give for the rest of your life. Jodie...great book thank you.
