I don't do short stories but...

I don't normally bother with short stories but this is such an excellent collection that even though i have a copy I am buying it again. Why? Well my old copy is starting to fall apart after so long and I will miss it. I do re-read my books and this one has so many good stories to re-read. All the stories contain a certain element of intelligent humour without being slapstick. The stories include a man who creates his own people, to whom he is a god, with the intention that they should out evolve him so that he can learn from them. They include a whole world population delivering a sucker punch to a ship full of aliens who do not understand Judo. They include many weird and wonderful things from some of the best authors who are now unknown. The stories are not dated despite having elements from the past because they are stories with good plots about ideas and based on real characters. If you can, buy it, read it and then give it as a gift. You may have to buy it again, but the smiles it provokes when read will make the giving worth while.
