I love this book. Brains are unbelievably fascinating, and this book covers everything, including philosophy, stories, anecdotes, humor, and brain facts that are downright startling. It is an amazing book, and so well-written it is hard to put down. It is not an easy book, but it is fantastic. Highly recommended for anyone who has the slightest interest in brain research.
Brains are where it's at

The study of neuroscience is startlingly intriquing and very au courant. This book provides a delightful introduction to the field, with great stories and humor. The questions it raises are as mind-blowing as the answers it gives. One of the other reviewers must have read a different book -- there is not one word about health care in this book. It is an introduction to the field of cognitive and behavioral neuroscience. It explains how the brain creates mental states and regulates behavior. Some of the stories and descriptions are nearly unbelievable. I got this book from a friend and I read it through almost in one sitting, though it is a tough read. It was that interesting to me. A great book for people who want to know some of the details and some of the off the beaten track facts about brain research today. Highly recommended, particularly for science, philosophy, psychology, and nonfiction nuts.

What a wonderful book, full of amazing facts, dense, beautifully written. The best book on the mind and brain. Clear, profound, and packed with absolutely astonishing information, stories, history, biology, and philosophy. This book is great, an eye-opener written in the style of Carl Sagan. Destined to be a classic.
