Miguel, the Dancing Pigeon, was inspired by a recent Carnival Cruise to Mexico in Mazatl?n. While frolicking on the beach with his family, the author felt inspired to diagram his nickname, "Big Mike," in the sand with rocks that washed ashore from the Pacific Ocean. Some may find it hard to believe, but after he diagramed his name in the sand, an unexpected pigeon arrived and began bobbing his head backward and forwards as he walked across the diagram. The author's grandson Mathew stated, "Hey, it's as if he's dancing on your name. You should name him "Miguel." It was then during the family vacation that Miguel the Dancing Pigeon was born.
