Honestly, I am ashamed to admit, I got this book last year. It took me forever to pick it up and read it. I am not really sure why. Maybe it was the cover. For some reason it just didn't grab me like I expected it to. But wait.... God's timing is also perfect and I believe this was His time for me. Lately I have been reading alot about prayer. And interestingly enough the last two books I have read have had characters that were very strong prayer warriors and had an amazing prayer life. This was one of them. Jonathan Holms is a pastor who is practiced in listening to God, as well as talking to Him. It inspired me, when I read how much time he spent on his needs, and how he went to God and prayed about everything, and even when he really didn't like the answer, he listened and followed through with what he believed God was telling him to do. I need that more in my own life. Another character that I fell in love with was Stubby. I could just picture him so well, maybe because I know a few Stubby's in my life. He felt hopeless, lost, and confused. He really didn't think anyone or at least almost any one cared about him. But something happens and Stubby is not himself anymore. The story is beautiful and moving. Oh and Jonathan's Aunt Adel, she worries and frets over him, and does her best to trust God. She is such a sweet heart, and once again, she is also a prayer warrior with a few things to learn. And Miss Emily, you can't help but love her and through her the people she loves, and the God she loves. She shines, brightly, but its Jesus in her that is shining. And as always there are those you don't like, several of them that pop up throughout the book. But they make the story more appealing, more interesting, and more true to life. And the only thing I really was disappointed in was the ending. Oh it wasn't bad, I just wanted more. I sure hope Ms Sylvia is considering maybe a sequel to this one, there are plenty of characters to work with. This story could be reality, maybe that is what drew me in. The characters come to life. They have real struggles, real problems, real situations. They also offer real solutions, real help and hope. I know this book would be a blessing to many!! I am so glad I finally took the time to read it. It was so worth it. Once I got started it was hard to put it down. I wish I had better words to convey the message in this book and the value of the words the author wrote. Just read it! Thank you Sylvia for sending me a copy of this book through The Book Club Network. I wasn't asked to write a positive review. All opinions were my own.
