There is a lot of buzz surrounding the Mediterranean diet. I'm sure that you've heard it by now. So what's it all about? It's not just some dieting fad that will disappear in the next month or two. It is a way of life that has been passed down through the centuries by some of the healthiest countries in the world.
Look at the standard American diet. It's loaded with sugar, fat, and salt. You put these three things together in high quantities and they are extremely unhealthy. It leads to obesity, cognitive decline, and a whole lot of other health risks.
Mediterranean dieting takes the focus away from those unhealthy options, promoting foods that are high in protein, healthy fats, and essential vitamins. Doesn't that sound amazing? Well, if that's not enough, then you should also note that the Mediterranean diet is even more delicious than the standard American diet. The problem is that most of us were raised on these unhealthy options, so our taste has been thrown out of balance.
