For men and women overwhelmed by life's constant juggling act -- the struggle to balance work, relationships, children, finances, chores, and more -- Anne Wilson Schaef clears the way to serenity and joy. With her signature wisdom, insight, and humor, Schaef shows us how to stop living at the mercy of frenzy and chaos and start savoring daily moments that center, calm, and nourish us. Contemplation and ultimately practical actions come together to help us tune into ourselves, be still and mindful, lighten up, laugh, and revel in the adventure of every day.
"Meditations" books are typically recommended by counselors for those in recovery from various types of addictions, but they can be very useful to anyone who is willing to take a small bit of time each day to pause and reflect. Anne Wilson Schaef, PH. D. does a wonderful job in this book of bringing up topics that pertain to all of us, and offering thoughtful insight about them. 365 days worth of meditations on many, many topics including: interdependence, illusions, compassion, destructiveness, children, overextending, control, exhaustion and excuses, among others. On each page there is a date at the top of the page, followed by a topic and a quote relating to the topic. The rest of the page contains Schaef's thoughts on the topic, followed by a meditation: one or two sentences that often describe an action or way of thinking that can help you achieve your goal of finding balance. I enjoy reading from this book daily, as there is not a lot of mention about recovery or co-dependency as in other meditations books I've purchased in the past, and the topics contained within this book are broad enough to be appreciated by anyone seeking peaceful balance in their lives. You can follow it day-by-day, or skip around. Very easy to read and always thought-provoking.
