a compelling emotional journey

When a white woman and an African-American man fall in love in rural Michigan, a lot of trouble can happen. Although Amy and Cord have corresponded for years as business associates, their meeting face to face for the first time sets them on an explosive path of events. The romantic tension surrounding their first meeting had me turning the pages right away. The first love scene happened kind of soon for me, but as I read further, I understood it needed to happen when it did because it forced them to decide whether or not to enter into an open relationship. I was practically biting my nails, wondering what Amy would do and feeling her love for Cord through her emotions. This book really opened my eyes to the difficulties experienced in interracial relationships. I thought the fact that some family members were supportive of the union made the story seem very real. I also like how Jeff Delaney is not just the bad guy but a very real character who grows over the course of the book. I really enjoyed this book and got wrapped up in the passion and emotions the characters experienced. I was sorry when it was over and look forward to reading more books by this author.Sherri Neilson

Surprisingly Real Romance

I read this book because in the author's newsletter she stated due to many reader request that her next novel, The Next One Is White, would be picking up on 2 characters from Meant To Be, Jeff and Leah. I'm glad I did! Not only are Cord and Amy a wonderful couple and so typical of life in the US today but I could see potential for Leah and Jeff. Now I can't wait to read the follow up.

I loved reading this book so much!!

My boyfriend bought me both From the Ashes and Meant to Be for my birthday and I read them both within two days! I couldn't put them down! They were wonderful! Can't wait for the next one to come out! You have such a unique writing ability! I have never read any books quite like these! They are wonderful, interesting, well written, captivating, and intriguing!! Thank you for the unique pleasure in being able to read such fasinating books! You and Kathleen really did a superb job in co-writing From the Ashes which I know has to be hard to write any book with someone else, but you sure pulled it off beautifully! Meant to Be made me relate so much to my own situation cause I met my boyfriend on the internet and got to know him more for himself than his looks or anything else before we met!! I am so looking forward to reading more books by Jeanne and Kathleen!! Thank you again for the wonderful adventure!!

Deliciously Different

The cover of the book attracted me. It was obviously a biracial relationship with the herione as white. I haven't seen many of those so I picked up the book. Gosh, it is a wonderful love story. The author portrayed the emotions with such intensity that I could feel every jolt the hero and heroine took. If you want to read about true love this is the story to read.
