Good Supplement to Exam Preparation

I used this to study for and pass the NT Server 4.0 test. Of course, I also took a class on NT Server, utilized the NT Resource Kit, IDG Books NT 4.0 Study Guide by Alan Carter, Exam Prep book, Exam Cram Flash Cards, as well as Troy Technologies study guides, and worked extensively with the system at home on my own computers as well as at school. In other words, this guide was one of many tools that helped me pass the exam. I did find various errors in the book, but overall the book was quite helpful in preparing me. If you are preparing for the test, don't rely on one source - use multiple sources for the best results, and make sure you get experience using NT server as well. I don't think you truly know this system until you have a lot of hands-on experience with it. Don't expect this guide to teach you everything you need to know to pass the certification exam - you need to know the material first.Incidently, the practice tests included on CD with the flash cards and the Exam Prep book were excellent (both of which require internet access to use.) The Exam Cram book uses written tests as opposed to computer based tests, and those were good as well. I'm not sure all of their answers were correct, and there were questions that didn't function properly (required more than one answer, but didn't allow you to choose more than one, etc.) but a combination of these tools will help prepare you to pass the Microsoft exam.

Great book for the MCP exam

This book is very helpful for taking the server test. You do need to get your hands on a copy of NT Server 4.0 and fast if you are thinking about taking this exam. But if you have experience than this and Trancender will do you just fine.

Good Refresher for MCSE Requirements

This book did well to fill in knowledge gaps when studying for exam 70-067. You should DEFINITELY know about and have some experience with Windows NT 4 before reading it and attempting the test, but with that accomplished this book was a nice companion. An important note: when buying study guides, be sure you are getting the most current edition (check the publisher's site), shopping can be confusing with so many versions abound. Again, let me emphasize, you NEED experience with NT before taking the test with this book alone. But of course, if you don't have much experience with NT, why are you taking the exams, right? ;)

Best of Many in a Mediocre Field

70-067 was my 5th of 6 MCSE exams. #4 i barely squeaked through so for #5 i went a bit overboard and used no less than 6 books and 8 practice exams. By now i have been exposed to just about every MCSE help publisher out there. I don't hesitate to rank Exam Cram #1. here is a tip: i have found the quality of a computer book (and MCSE is no exception) is usually inversely proportional to its girth. Exam Cram is about 1/4 the size of publishers like New Riders, yet contains much more information, much more concisely laid out, and is, by MCSE book standards, almost devoid of obvious errors.Here is my MCSE publisher ranking:#1 Exam Cram. concise, to the point, well written. #2 Sams. some errors, but very readable, and well organized for the most part. #3 New Riders. not bad, but puffed up with a lot of screen prints and useless information. some inconsistencies within their own information. #4 For Dummies. Okay, but i only used one, and it didnt leave much of an impression on me. #5 Microsoft. too long and very dully written. tends to cover a lot of topics in detail that arent needed for the exam. i guess it depends in part how much you want to know for the exam vs. the real world. #6 Sybex. the bottom of the bottom. tons of errors, full of fluff, not worth the paper they are printed on.I am amazed at how poorly edited many MCSE books are. Some of them seem like the total extent of editing consisted of running spell checker. Often you will find what is essentially the same "sample exam" question in 2 places with conflicting answers, even in the same book. On NT Server 4.0, amongst the 6 books i used, i counted 4 different versions of the minimum hardware requirements for Server. Others like Sybex offer up the lamest exam questions that bear no relation to reality.

MCSE NT Server 4 Exam Cram, Third Edition

If you are planning to get the MCP or MCSE track, this book is really worth it. Instead of going through hundereds of pages of other books this one has all the info you need. This is my second exam cram book. With little extra reading It will help you to pass the test.
