quality book with some repeating content

To prepare my children for the Beestar online math assessments, I bought this book to practice math facts. The Math Made Easy series is a complete home-study program to help your child practice the essential math skills they need in each grade. This workbook will provide practice for all the major topics for Grade 2 with an emphasis on the addition and subtraction of larger numbers. You also find a review of Grade 1 topics and a preview of the topics in the Grade 3 workbook. This is when they introduce Times Tables Practice. A progress chart can be found at the start of the book and includes stars you can stick in the correct box that corresponds with the completed lessons. The "Answer Section with Parents' Notes provides answers to all the activities in the book. These pages enable you to mark your children's work. There is a visual of each page and notes to help you explain the common errors and problems. Where appropriate, they indicate the type of practice needed to ensure that your children understand where and how they have made errors. The book does have some repeating content, but I think they are by design to help children master basic math skills. Contents: Counting by 1s, 2s, 10s and 100s Odd and Even Reading and Writing larger numbers More and Less Fact Families Fractions Changing amounts into dollars and cents Adding and Subtracting Telling Time Tally charts and Bar graphs Sorting 2-dimensional shapes Equations Location on a grid and Placing on a grid Reading a Calendar Venn Diagrams Sorting 3-dimensional shapes Money and Measurement Problems Symmetry Solving Real-life problems Times Tables

Get yr comic book kid to do more math!

This workbook is in full color and there's a Marvel character on every page. (I can see the answers, can you?" asks the Invisible Woman) High quality paper, high Q stickers that you can apply to the progress chart in the beginning of the book - one sticker for each page. Answers provided with guidance in the back of book. Would work as the major chunk of a curriculum. More than worth the price Dorling Kindersley did a good job, once again.

"Can I do the next page, please?" said my son.

I didn't even plan to purchase this, but my son just insisted me to get it for him. This book is made for G2, but my son (G1) defintely didn't mind some challenging tasks. 2 great things about this work book that differentiates from the others in the market. 1. Page layout: Each page has colorful and vibrant characters. There is a high-lighted box with very clear instruction and examples on the top of each page. Because of this box, my son managed to complete many pages on his own without adult assistance. 2. Curriculum: The topics & levels of difficulty are distributed evenly throughout the book, so it really makes sense to do few pages on the daily bases. There is a progress chart with stickers in this book, too. I buy tons of work books for Reading & Writing, but I never bother to buy anything for Math. Why would I want to spend $$$ for just a bunch of pages with numbers, when I can create it on my own just as quickly as picking lottery numbers. But this one was totally worthwhile. I hope they will make another edition or with more super heroes, because this 150 pages workbook will not last too long!!! What's more, DK really should make something like this for Reading Comprehension. I'll definitely buy it if I ever find it....

great math review

this is the best math workbook i have encountered. it is not dry at all and is very rigorous in content. perfect for boys. i only wish they made a first grade edition, this series seems to start in second grade math.

My son loves this

I got this workbook because my son likes superheroes and I thought it might be a good review since he didn't do any math over the summer. He loves this! He sits down and works in this book by himself without me suggesting it. Sometimes he just looks through the pictures. I like the book because it covers many math subjects. All of the problems incorporate the marvel comic characters in clever ways. Why didn't they have such appealling math material when I was young?
