This is a charming story about a politician's daughter and the journalist who is falling for her. Jud Marlowe's original plan is to use Grace Harrison's church-based matchmaking program as a story topic in order to get closer to her Dad, the Senator, and a real scoop that will rejuvenate his career. He never counted on finding true love. Grace is skeptical about Jud's interest in her program and her church. She knows that he wants to write about her famous father. So, why can't she stop thinking about him? This is a refreshing read with wholesome values and a backbone of second chances...and third... It will inspire and encourage the reader in their relationships with others and with God.
A wonderful story about a faith-based community, virtues, and discoving the purpose of ones life

As a religious education instructor, I related to Grace's work in a personal way. It's more than a coincidence that a few days before reading this book, I was involved in a passionate discussion with my colleagues about how our generation grew up with the Church at the center of our respective communities - I've met all my lifelong friends as well as my husband there. It's sad to us that young people nowadays aren't interested in Christian fellowship or in attending church-based social activities. It's very refreshing to read about the very welcoming Coffee House at the Church on the Circle and how it connected people in a faith-based environment, especially in a big city like Washington DC that's filled with many temptations and cynicism. Our suburban NYC community would certainly benefit from having more visible places like this! Although Grace's Matchmaking mission implies otherwise, this story goes much deeper than finding one's soulmate. It's about surrounding oneself with friends and situations that bring out our best qualities and inspire us to be the best person we can be. For example, Senators from opposite political parties came together in a bipartisan effort to do what's best for the people without compromising themselves or their political positions. As well, Dave and Suni had to measure their love and their relationship against their cultural differences and the disapproval of her family. Bethany is wonderful in her supportive role as Grace's best friend and confidante. And Jud, whose error in judgement had tarnished his reputation, learned to let go of the pain and betrayals of his past and reestablish the virtues of trust and integrity. In addition to the emphasis on faith-based friendships and social activities, what I admired most about this book was that the characters made their spiritual journey by their own free will, under the subtle guidance of the Church's members and its ministry, without having it forced upon them with excessive preaching or pushiness. They were given the space to find their own way, in their own time. This story left me thinking about Christian values and virtues, and how I can incorporate them into my daily life. It also has me wondering if there is a way for my religious education program to inspire the youngsters we work with to be more open to attending church-sponsored social events and establishing faith-based friendships.
