A fabulous guide!

Thank heavens (and the authors) for this book! I am also shocked by the negative reviews listed here. I had no previous experience with GoLive or any other web design software, but now I have a web site for my business. This book offers clear, in-depth, step-by-step guidance that I have yet to find in any other guide. I particularly appreciated the chapter about integrating GoLive with other Adobe software. I actually obtained more useful information about using Illustrator and Photoshop in this book than I did with guides I bought specifically for those programs. I can't thank the authors enough for finally providing a practical guide with clear instructions and interesting design suggestions for the new user. If you're new to GoLive, don't hesitate to buy this book.

My kind of software reference

I'm surprised at some of the negative reviews here. This is an ambitious work that tries not only to provide instruction on how to use GoLive (from beginner to intermediate levels), but also to provide the new web designer with instruction on the elements of good web design, and a sense of how GoLive works with other tools from Adobe (including Illustrator, Photoshop, ImageReady, and ImageStyler)). If you're not into Adobe products, this may not be the book for you. But for those willing to invest in a full Adobe web studio, there isn't a better book to explain the tools, what they do, and how you can use them together to build a professional web site. I'm also partial to software books that are easy and enjoyable to read , and don't rely too heavily on walk-throughs that require you to be sitting in front of your computer. I was able to read this book in the car, in bed, out on my porch -- the tone and style lend itself to this kind of casual but informative reading. Another book, Real World GoLive, may do a better job with some of the more advanced features of the program, but that isn't what this book is about. Despite its "Mastering" title, this book is really for beginners to web design in general, and GoLive in particular. If you're just getting your feet wet in designing web site, or are considering GoLive and possibly other Adobe products for your tool chest, this book is a perfect introduction. Software references that are a pleasure to read are a rare find. I give this book 5 stars because it's not only an interesting and engaging read, but because it's one of the most ambitions books about web design I've ever read. Kudos to the authors for going the extra mile!

GoLive Plus!

While being an exhaustive reference on the GoLive program, what I like best about Mastering Adobe GoLive is the author has included sections on quite a few other Adobe apps as well. These include the ones you would most likely use in tandem with GoLive in preparing graphics; Illustrator, Photoshop, Image Ready and Image Styler. This adds greatly to the value of the book for me. Info is also nicely arranged and presented concisely. Highly recommended!

more than just GoLive

This book in a good introduction of GoLive 4 but it is also much more. The author also gives great insight in to web design techniques in general and not just how to use GoLive. Very useful for both beginning and intermediate web designers.
