Massalia, 49 BC: Caesar's siege. Historically, this marks the end of Marseille's Greek era, which had begun 550 years earlier, and the start of the Roman era, ushered in by Caesar IV, the one we know. We find references to this in *The Civil War* and a few other texts by ancient authors, such as the poet Lucan's *Pharsalia*. In Caesar's Civil War, the siege of Massalia takes up just a page or two; here I offer you 300 pages and more. Of course, my work is not recognized and is far from being so, but in this book, I invite you on a genuine journey into antiquity through my research into temporal echoes. The siege of Marseille is re-enacted every year, at the very same time, through a phenomenon of energetic resonance that you unconsciously experience if you are in Marseille. All I had to do was begin to record it to create an initial picture.
Unfortunately, in these echoes, the siege of Marseille differs from Caesar's accounts, but isn't it said that history is false, that it is written by the victors? You will therefore need, in order to embark on reading this book, to adopt an 'off the beaten track' approach so that you may be rewarded with a wealth of information on the siege and on this period in Marseille's history.
