Journalist Nicole has quit the paper she was working for and wants to start freelancing when her friend Terri reads her an ad from the newspaper about a man advertising for a wife. Nicole and her friends speculate on why somebody would do that. Maybe he's ugly as sin, maybe he needs to do be married to collect an inheritance. Nicole, her journalistic curiosity aroused, sets out to get the answer. And what she finds is Ross Dufrais, who claims the ad was put in by accident, but agrees to see her anyway. He tells her his wife and daughter died twelve months ago, that he needs to get on with his life, that if he got married it would make his terminally ill aunt happy, plus he has a grandson who needs caring for. Nicole, realizing that she's not going to get the whole story, makes to leave just as Ross offers her the job. A marriage in name only. Nicole is about to say no when Ross's aunt suddenly is taken ill and he has to accompany her to the hospital, leaving Nicole with the darling grandson and a pressing problem, to marry the man or not? I have to admit that when I read the short synopsis on the back cover, I was prepared to hate this book, instead, as corny as the plot sounds, I simply adored it. It just goes to show you that you really can't always judge a book by its cover. This is a super story and this book is a keeper.
