Selected Works of Xiao Hong: March in a Small Town/萧红作品精选集：小城三月 [Chinese]

By Xiao Hong and 朱海峰，萧雨

Presented in its original, unadulterated form, this edition faithfully reproduces the author's first drafts, preserving the authentic texture and spirit of Xiao Hong's writing. March in a Small Town brings together some of Xiao Hong's finest novellas and short stories, including the title story, The Death of Sister Wang, Flying a Kite, A Night in the Stable, and The Advertisement Assistant. The title story is a poignant tale of unfulfilled love: Cuiyi, a beautiful nineteen-year-old girl, falls silently in love with her elder cousin, dreaming of a romance that the feudal conventions of her time could never allow. When March returns once more, all that remains is the cousin's memory of her... Xiao Hong's writing is often intensely personal, with many of her stories drawing on her own life and reflecting her own emotional landscape. Xiao Hong (1911-1942), born Zhang Naiying and known by the pen names Qiaoyin, Lingling, Tiandi, and others, was a modern Chinese woman writer whose short but brilliant literary career left an indelible mark on Chinese literature.
