Manual for Kinship Analysis

Originally published in 1964 by Holt, Rinehart, and Winston, this volume has been used by more than 50,000 students as an introduction to classifying and analyzing the kinship systems of the world. This second edition introduces in a simple, step-by-step style the methods of componential analysis as well as determining the structure of Iroquois, Crow-Omaha, and other kinship systems. A good supplemental text for Introductory Anthropology courses.

A great way to learn about kinship

"The Manual for Kinship Analysis" is excellent book for anyone looking to better understand kinship systems throughout the world. The book has many easy to understand paradigms and plenty of explanations. The topics range from how people relate to one another in a family unit to how other groups structure their families. The book isn't very long, but it is well worth reading if your interested in cultural anthropology. Overall I was very pleased with this book.
