A guide for the true gentleman

Whilst some of the advice provided in "Manners for Men" may no longer be applicable to modern society (such as the statement that smoking is coming back into fashion), this book is still worthy of being held in the highest regard for its principles. Many of the rules may only apply today in the United Kingdom but would still be seen as extreme politeness elsewhere in the world. In reading this book I have become quite convinced that every British mother has a copy of this stashed away somewhere, as so many of these rules were ingrained into me as a child. One can only hope that the manners expected of men at the time of writing may one day come back into fashion.

Recall the manners for men of the old days

Some of the manners for men suggested in this book have been out-dated as expected but the spirit within is still a reference to the men of this era. Men and women not being influenced by the English culture would oppose those traditional manners should not buy this book because you will simply find it old-fashioned. But as a man myself who admired the fame of English gentlemen this book is a good reference of how a gentleman should behave.
