Based on the author's work with thousands of women, this new edition presents an added decade's worth of information and experience that makes it the most up- to-date resource in the field of morning sickness. Included are remedies, nutritional guidelines, and recipes.
I bought this book even when my Morning Sickness wasn't 'crippling' -- just MAJORLY uncomfortable... (and yes, day in and day out -- not just in the am!)... her recipes are SUPER easy and I even made a soup on the 1st day! I also used it to help me grocery shop for some anti-nausea staples. Wish they had this book in the OB's waiting room. It would be a MUST-read instd of some of the silly magazines they have! Great nutritional info, and things to do around the house and in your life. Overall, very thorough book. It's written not like a clinical dissertation, which is refreshing! Very true -- a SURVIVAL GUIDE for Pregnant Women! :)

Amazing Resource For Surviving Hyperemesis

Miriam Erick is a hero in our household. I have gotten through two pregnancies with severe Hyperemesis. My first pregnancy, I purchased Miriam Erick's first book, "No More Morning Sickness," while I was unable to keep any food down and had IV fluids being administered to me at my home. I was on the IV for one month and had visiting nurses come to check on me a few times per week. I felt incredibly isolated with the disease of Hyperemesis and I didn't know where to turn for support. Miriam's 1st book helped me get through each day. A few years later, my husband and I decided to plan for another pregnancy. We met with many specialists and even traveled to Boston to meet with Miriam Erick personally. I was then informed of this book, Managing Morning Sickness. I purchased it immediately and read it cover to cover before even conceiving our second child. It was a life saver filled with nutrition information, recipes and meal plans for different cravings (e.g. salty, crunchy, etc.), descriptions of complications from hyperemesis, medications being used and even alternative therapies. This book also talks about triggers for morning sickness, which helped me to try to avoid certain scents & situations. Per Miriam's advice, lemons are a great for trying to prevent nausea. Lemons are not only great for drinking as lemonade, but for sniffing as well. I would carry a fresh lemon wedge around with me whenever I had to go to doctor appointments or any other place with a lot of people. If I started to get nauseous from a particular smell or fragrance, I would sniff my lemon wedge and the nausea would get a little better. I can't say enough about how Miriam's books helped me get through my pregnancies. Hyperemesis is a life threatening disease if not treated properly and Miriam's knowledge allowed me to ask my medical team the right questions in order to get the treatment that I needed. Thank you Miriam for your wonderful books filled with fabulous knowledge and resources!!!
Miriam is incredible!

I would not have made it if it wasn't for Miriam. First, she doesn't underestimate how physically miserable you are feeling (as a lot of people do). Second, her scientific understanding of the "disease"/condition process is comforting. Third, all her suggestions on what and how to eat/drink are priceless. And last, but not least, she knows when the condition is severe enough that it needs actual medical intervention (such as intravenous fluids and medication). For those women who are not fortunate to meet her in person while going through this period, reading the book is of great benefit.
A Must Have

As a "survivor" of Hyperemisis I can honestly say that this book and the author were invaluable resources to me. Not only did I read the book but was able to be under her care during my second pregnancy. I found the pages of the book to be filled with excellent information, helpful tips, great suggestions on things to try and eat, and comfort that I wasn't alone. Miriam was truly an angel for me and I wouldn't have made it through the pregnancy without her. A must read for any women suffering from morning sickness or more during pregnancy.
