Book Overview

Fantasy that defies convention. Romance that ignores boundaries. A story that speaks to the heart of humanity. Magebound begins an epic journey, not to save a universe, but to heal one man's broken soul.

A slave since the age of eight, Lark has been brutalized and victimized for almost as long as he can remember. When he finds himself the property of Lord Naeven Sactaren, a man as frightening as he is beautiful, his world is turned completely upside down as he's thrown into a new life of magic, obstacles, and quirky friends that force him to change in ways he never thought he could.

Inexplicably drawn to his master, Lark struggles against his own fears and desires as he works side by side with the seductive mage. Never has he been so enchanted by anyone, which raises a frightening question: Would Lord Sactaren bewitch his slave in order to lure him into his bed?

In a world where sex is magic and lust is power, can Lark trust what he feels, or has he simply been Magebound?

Contains Bonus Features Chapter 1 of the upcoming Book 2, Spellwrought, original short story The Trouble With Feelings, Character Biographies, and 4 Articles: Mages, Machirans, Kholdras, and A Brief History of Traxen.

Not nearly as good as I remembered...

No. These settings are far to vibrant. This plot, so smooth... What have you done to my plotholes?! And my mindless scenes of fangirl squee, how did you write a relationship into it? And these characters! They're all 3-D now, what happened to the very well drawn, 2-Dimensional characters I grew to love? No, this is not the story I remember reading... This is so much BETTER. Now hurry! To the sequel!

Wonderful book!

I ordered the book a few weeks ago, and I checked my mail obsessively until I got it a few days ago. It's a wonderful book - one that I could not put down. The characters are very well developed, and the storyline is great. I would recommend it to absolutely anyone who enjoys fantasy or LGBT fiction.

Worth every penny!

I originally read this book, or the online fiction as it was, about 2 years ago. I remember when Katica took the story down to begin the work for publishing, I was so angry! Angry that I could no longer reread the story as much as I wanted to, and angry because, now, I would have to wait at least a year to get it in paperback. Out of all the books to be published I can honestly say, this one deserved it. And it also deserves to be reread until the spine breaks and the pages crumble. Once you start to read it, you can't stop. If you enjoy fantasy and gay romance, then you have probably just found your new favorite author, I certainly did! Way to go Katica on your first paperback!

More than just a love story

Most people aren't used to fiction that blurs the lines. Well, Magebound is a book to make them wake up and take notice. Both an LGBT romance and a novel of high fantasy, Magebound lays out a lush, colorful world that you want to step into and take part in, the characters and settings fully realized. The book deals in an interesting blend of magic, lust, power, and corruption, from the point of view of a man who's never had the chance to choose things for himself (he's been a slave since childhood) and has never thought of himself as having any sort of sexuality. If you are a fan of gay romance, of magic, of fantastic creatures, or simply gripping storytelling, then this is a great book for you.
