This book was one of my very favorites when I was a child! I thought that the characters had a terrific vitality and realness, and I grew to love them all! This book delves into some complicated issues of racism and friendship with a positive outlook, which I think many books lack today! Ludie's Song has a wonderful plot with realistic scenes and a terrific, strong main character Marty. Through her experiences my eyes were opened to racism issues that I had not been exposed to, or even realized existed. This book has a fabulous plot...Please don't pass up such a fine piece of literature! I hope that Dirlie Herlihy (the author) knows what an impact she had on my outlook during my childhood! Thanks Dirlie!
