Loving Lies

Slade Colter has wanted Jessie Benton since she was 16 years old and jailbait. Knowing that he can't trust himself to watch her grow up without touching her, Slade took a job with Homeland Security. Now that she is grown up, he is back for her. Ready to claim her for his own. And share with her his dark passions. Jessie has loved Slade for as long as she can remember. Deliberately sneaking into his RV, Jessie sets her plan in motion to seduce him, and seduce him she does. For there is nothing that Slade can do that will make her stop loving him. But fate can be cruel. With their relationship still new, Slade is forced to lie to the woman he loves; he has no other choice but to leave Jessie and marry another. Devastated, Jessie picks up the pieces of her life and learns to live without Slade. Until now. After five long years, Slade has returned and wants a second chance. And he is willing to do anything to get back the woman he loves. Anything! Loving Lies tore at my heart. Never before while reading a book have I felt such anguish. Did Slade break Jessie's heart? Yes. Did Slade love Jessie with everything he was? Yes. Did Slade have a choice in leaving Jessie? Some would say, "Yes, he did," while I emphatically say, "No, he had no other option." And it is for that reason alone, that I kept reading this book. I knew that what Slade had to do was tearing him apart and the fact that he suffered for five years, redeemed Slade in my eyes and I fell in love with him too. As for Jessie, she is a spitfire like no other. After having her world torn apart, she still loves her man but does not give in without a fight. Even though Slade returns and Jessie still loves him, she gives him a run for his money. I thought it appropriate that Slade had to work so hard to win Jessie over again. Add a tiny little surprise at the end of the book, and my heart was overflowing, my mind was satiated, and I could rest easy knowing that things were going to be okay. The writing of Lora Leigh continues to amaze me. Loving Lies has to be one of the finest books she has written, and I know it is one of the most outstanding books I have read in an extremely long time. When a book makes me cry, angry, and shiver in anticipation all at the same time, then I know it is well written. Loving Lies took me full circle; from ecstasy to hate, to despair and finally love. I highly recommend Loving Lies to any reader as it is electrically charged, erotic, and just a sinfully good read! Talia reviewed for Joyfully Reviewed

Best Lora Leigh I've read so far

I personally liked Loving Lies better then the Men Of August series by LL because the love story here was a bit more believable in my opinion. While some of the other reviewers thought that Slade came across as a bully I thought he seemed very loving and concerned about Jessie and the sex in the book, while explicit and kinky, didn't seem to border on cruel as I thought it did in the MoA series. I've also read Ms. Leigh's Nauti Boy, The Cowboy & The Captive and 1,2 & 3 of the Tempting Seals series and while I enjoyed them all a lot I still liked Loving Lies more. I am hoping that she'll continue the Men Of Summer series with the stories of Jazz & Zack who are Slade's 2 best friends and are very well written as supporting characters in this book. If you like LL's books for the sexually explicit love scenes then you won't be disappointed, this book is hot, hot, hot.

the best of lora leigh...

I got hooked on lora leigh's books from the first, but this one is the best yet..I only hope she'll make more of the same.anyone looking for a hot read and loveable characters to make the time fly by,well..this is your book.

Loved It...

I thought this book was great!! VERY, VERY hot - the perfect summer read. In terms of character development, I'm not sure what the other reviewer meant. They were developed fine. This was about 2 people in love for a long time finally getting together. I knew more than enough about the characters. I was glad they didn't go into too much detail about the hero's "disappearance" b/c I didn't want this book to turn into a book about arms deals and our homeland security.
