LOVED OR LIVID: Divine Vs. Hellion

"Loved or Livid" is a poignant collection chronicling life-altering events and profound reflections during a transformative journey. At the tender age of 15, I unwittingly assumed the role of the "stupid" smart girl. Others claimed I had thrown a dagger through my future when I got pregnant and embarked on a life of my own as an adult. The things that transpired from then on can only be described as supernatural and a true testament of God's work in my life. It's a beautiful example of Proverbs 16:1-9 which reads:

"We may make our plans, but God has the last word. You may think everything you do is right, but the LORD judges your motives. Ask the LORD to bless your plans, and you will be successful in carrying them out."

Despite the predictions my circumstances may have suggested for my future, God had other plans and enveloped me in his grace. This book is rare, in the sense that, just like my spirit has transformed many times, so did the book. I began writing it in 2018. It started as a self-accountability in marriage book describing the importance of being logical in your actions for an everlasting partnership; highlighting the lessons I've learned from both of my marriages (my first one being at 15 years old.) From there it transformed into motherhood, and I intertwined the two- speaking on balancing both with snippets of my real-life experiences. In hindsight, it's funny how I never included myself when speaking on being nurturing and reliable. I see now, not only did I need to be that, but I also needed to have that.

Between the hustle and bustle of life, I abandoned the book for years.

By 2022, as the thought of finishing it nagged at me, I realized the teachings in the book required answers. How, When and Why? Writing the book and typing out the lessons I had experienced forced me to confront my incomplete understanding of the good and evil I've experienced; Pushing me to grow mentally, emotionally and spiritually. The growth, though slow and gruesome, supported my ability to be closer to God, to answer those questions, actually apply those lessons to be a true student of life, and complete the book.

When I started writing this book I was a stay at home mom determined to make the best use of that time and sharpen my skills. As important as being a mother was, equally important to me was ensuring the success and well-being of my children. Once my oldest had his teenage years creeping up, I began to realize that each passing year brought all of my kids one step closer to embracing the world as their playground. This book was my attempt to apply energy towards enriching my children's future and at the same time give them something life changing to read anytime they need it.

Within these pages, there's a mosaic of guidance, love, reassurance, darkness, light, pain, happiness, hope and the absence of it. This book is human and spirit learning how to dance together, on beat, with ease. It defies categorization; it's a journey of resilience, offering solace and transformation whenever it's opened. Yeah, you were wrong about me.
