Informative

I thought this book was very informative and gave a very detailed account of life as an African American homosexual, growing up in the Chrisitan church. After reading the book you can't help but have some compassion for what homosexuals inside or outside of the church deal with on a daily basis. As far as the Christian community goes, Mr. Easter is right in his assessment of the Christian church not embracing or understanding homosexuals. He is right in his assessment that indeed Jesus did died for all sinners regardless of their sexual orientation and that as Chritians we are commanded to love all of our neighbors not pick and choose. Mr. Easter doesn't do a bad job of arguing some of the scriptures that preachers use to condemn homosexuality. However, he overlooks scriptures like 1 Corninthians 6:18 (which preachers also use) that talk about fornication (sex outside of marriage) being a sin, regardless of whether the people sleeping together are of the same sex or not. Unfortunately for homosexuals, same sex marriage is not legal in every states in this country, and the Bible is very clear about Fellowers of Christ obeying God's Word (Romans 6:11-23). Yes, the church must get its act together and start exhibiting the Love of Christ and embracing all human beings. The church must also correct all who habitually sin not just homosexuals, because God is not a respector of persons. But Mr. Easter must also admit, that the problem is not one-sided and everyone who claim that Jesus is their Lord and Savior including homosexuals must be willing to be obedient and live by ALL of God's Word. For His Word say "...Why do you call me Lord, Lord and do not do the things which I Say?" Luke 6:46
