renewing of my mind

this book is awesome, especially for the alcoholic of the hopeless variety. which is me. upon awakening this is one of the books that directs my thought life immediately to God. my "thinking" mind is extinguished while i receive wisdom from Him, and the discernment as to how i can perform God's will for the day.

The Best Daily Devotion I've Ever Read

I had heard about Charles Spurgeon on Christian radio. I didn't know if I would find a book by Charles Spurgeon, but I'd hope I would. I'm glad I chose a daily devotion. This book is better than I'd expected because it has inspirations from Jim Reimann for every day, too. I don't want to put it down. It is a book I will enjoy reading daily. I wished everyone had this book. I don't just start my day with it, I read it whenever I feel I want to be inspired.

Best New In-Depth Devotional

This book's title is taken from this passage of the Bible: "Look unto Me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else." Isaiah 45:22 (KJV). When I was a little girl I grew up singing a hymn called "All That Thrills My Soul Is Jesus" with lyrics: "Who can cheer the heart like Jesus? By His presence all divine; True and tender, pure and precious; Oh, how blessed to call Him mine...All that thrills my soul is Jesus; He is more than life to me; And the fairest of ten thousand in His blessed face I see." After all of these years, knowing Jesus is still my greatest thrill, and I hunger for deep teaching, to point me to my First Love and keep my eyes on Him. I am reminded in this daily devotional of how much just one glimpse of the Savior is life to me. It is an answer to prayer, as Jesus prays for me, "Holy Father, keep through Thine own name those whom Thou hast given Me, that they may be one, as We are...O righteous Father, the world hath not known Thee: but I have known Thee, and these have known that Thou hast sent Me..." John 17:11, 25. So, it is only by God's mercy that we have the joy of looking unto Jesus to LIVE FOR HIM as a love gift from the Father to the Son. This extraordinary book wakes us up to look on Someone better than ourselves and the sinful ways of the world. "Look unto Me and be ye saved..." (Isaiah 45:22) There is hope for every sinner--for freedom FROM sin--in God's plea, Look Unto Me. Other than the Bible, I know of no better book to recommend. As I read Look Unto Me daily, the excerpts from Charles Spurgeon and in-depth, biblical commentary from Jim Reimann fill up my hungry heart with meat for strength that I so need to live for the One who died for me with victory in a world where "the prince of the power of the air" never sleeps (Ephesians 2: 2). This book encourages those who have chosen to walk the road of the cross, looking unto Jesus as Savior (Hebrews 12:2), with just one life to live as redeemed sinners before spending forever and ever with Him. True to its title, Look Unto Me is not be confused with pop-culture, "Christian", candy "bestsellers" for actors "playing church", taking a glimpse of Jesus in vain. It is meat for the hungry soul longing for heaven. Just like My Utmost for His Highest, edited by Jim Reimann, Look Unto Me WILL NOT DISAPPOINT THOSE WHO ARE LIVING TO SPEND ETERNITY LOOKING UNTO JESUS. It is a little bit of heaven here on earth. What does it mean to look unto Jesus? Is it boring? Just one daily devotional found in Look Unto Me will only make a seeker long for a closer look and closer walk with the God of all creation in an exciting, loving relationship with Him. Some folks in autonomous darkness may be offended by such light, but, one thing is for certain: no one can remain the same in the presence of just one look at the Savior. The Bible teaches that "there is none that seeketh after God" (Romans 3:11 ). The Lord has used this book in my life to
