It is early 1942 and following the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour, the United States has joined the war. In response, Hitler launches his U-boat packs across the Atlantic against this fresh enemy and finds a country ill-prepared for the onslaught. Reinhard Ackermann, the veteran commander of U-127, as he takes his crew into uncharted waters. Leonard Cole and the crew of the escort ship HMS Protea, transferred to US command to help fight this new menace. Unknown to each other, their fates twist together towards a dramatic conclusion in the warm waters of the Caribbean.
