I was diagnosed and the battle for my life begun...The phones calls were countless as the tears were freely flowing. I thought to myself, how am I going to get through this? Desperation stumbled off my tongue as I was telling the news to the members of my family and friends. Each phone number I dialed was another person whoselife will never be the same. I took a deep breath and dialed the number to a cousin who is nine months older than me; a phone call that changed my whole perspective. His comment will stickwith me the rest of my life. At the end of the conversation, he simply said, "Patty, keep me abreast of the situation." It caught me off guard and I found myself sharing a laugh with him.As I pondered those words, I realized I was ready to fight for my life with vast support and love from others while befriending humor.... I am going to win my life back. I am going to live out loud, with lots of love, while laughing out loud. I started blogging my journey on Carepages.com; it's more than a survivor's tale, it's a Thrivor's tale.
