LIYONGO S NAVEL is an East African epic based on Swahili traditional stories of a legendary and historical hero, warrior, and a great Swahili poet and singer, Fumo Liyongo, and his demise centuries ago. At the outset, Lodhi s LIYONGO S NAVEL is a narrative of early Swahili stories about cosmology and creation of human beings. According to Lodhi, the antecedent narratives of Swahili cosmology were influenced and modified by Iranian Zoroastrianism, as well as by Semitic, especially Islamic, versions of creation of the Universe.
