This journey started as a child. There was a span of nearly forty years in my early to middle adulthood when I seemed to be fine. In my late forties, I began to develop serious heart disease, which in a few years led to a heart transplant in 2010. This book is the story of my life before the transplant, the transplant experience, and my life after the transplant. I have always wanted to write about my experience, but never felt the time was right. Immediately after the experience I did not know how it was going to turn out. Now over six years later, I want to tell my story. This is a story of survival, love of family and friends, and prayer and faith in God. This book was written to give encouragement to anyone who may be facing a transplant of any type. The whole idea of a transplant can be very frightening, but in reality it is not much different than any other kind of surgery. The biggest difference is the need for a donor and the waiting time.
