From the creators of the bestselling The Little Penguin comes this lavishly embossed picture book that lovingly renders ducklings, bunnies, and chicks, along with their grassy habitats. Full color.
In my opinion, it's no wonder America's children aren't interested in reading. The pictures in so many picture books are terrible! (In my humble opinion.) After all, the pictures are initially what attracts a non- or beginning reader to a book for the first time. (See The Read-Aloud Handbook: Sixth Edition (Read-Aloud Handbook) on creating a love of reading in your child.) Here's an exception. I haven't seen a book this beautiful in a long time. The illustrations create a gentle mood for the book and the embossing draws you into the picture even more. I withheld one star for the writing style. It struck me as being a rough draft. I'm not enjoying reading this aloud to my children too many times. But, oh, the pictures are so pretty!

This book is a precious story that really keeps my 2 years old attention. She will not go to sleep or nap without reading this book. The story line is so cute and easy for a child to understand. It is easy enough for my 6 year old to read it to her little sister. This book is great!!!!!
