Wonderful

Big illustration and one simple sentence each page. Funny and simple. A must Buy for young readers.Good quality too.

GREAT learning-to-read book

When my four year had just figured out that she could sound out words she spent *hours* with this book. The text is very simple, but put together with the pictures these are actual full-fledged stories, unlike many early readers. It's a great collection.

Great collection

My son is 3, not reading yet, but he is a huge fan of Mercer Mayer's little critter books. This collection contains some of his best stories and illustrations. Because it is a large, hardback book, Mayer's drawings are much bigger and easier to appreciate. Of the six stories, "Staying Overnight" is one of my favorites. Little Critter's friend's family is wealthy and he makes observations about their lifestyle which are very innocent and matter-of-fact, not overly jealous - although he's fairly amazed at the size of his friend's teddy bear. "This is my school" is another of our favorites, which showcases Little Critter's excitement about school and learning on his first day.

fun to read and fun to listen to

I bought this book for my not yet 5 year old daughter. It was love at first sight for her. She found the stories and the pictures to be very cute!!!! The book has movtivated her to practice her reading all by herself. What is neat about this book, is that the illustrations are also interesting enough for my 2 year son, who does not mind his sister's slow reading of the story :-)

Perfect for the new reader

My daughter, age 7 was able to read, but did not enjoy it until I gave this book to her. Each page has just a sentence or two and it is fun to read and the pictures are fantastic. This book has chapters and I was hoping to get my daughter to read one each night - instead she asked to read two the first night and 3 the next. It showed her that books can be fun.
