Excellent book for anyone interested in medicine

This book clearly points out the illusions we have about modern medicine and explains the actual historical development of modern medicine and the limitations it will meet. The auther is a very good writer and kept the book interesting with a sense of drama.

The Big Names

I read this book for a class on the history of medicine, the book provides a good overview of the history of western medicine. The author focuses primarily on the big names in the history of medicine such as Pasteur. The author also provides an interesting thesis about medicine itself and how we view medicine today and tomorrrow. Overall I think this is an excellent book. The only complaints i have would be that he does not mention x-rays and similar technology and how it changed medicine
