Book Overview

"He sits in the woods holding her hand." This sentence is the first of many clever ploys that make this book a stand-out among serial-killer novels. You could say it's just one gimmick after another... This description may be from another edition of this product.

WOW!

An avid Stephen King fan, I look for authors who write "real" and yet whose characters are somewhat surreal. This is the first David Martin book I've read but it won't be the last. Mr. Martin grips you from the very first page and you literally can't put this book down. I had it read in three days and would have had it done sooner had I not had a day job. Wonderful writing, great suspense, devine characters ... read this book. It's great.

Whatever you do...don't LIE to him!

A madman serial killer enters the house of a wealthy entrepeneur and his beautiful young wife and takes them hostage. The following morning the rich man is dead, the killer is on the run and - although we as readers know otherwise - the wife states that her husband's dead was a suicide! What really happened that night? A worn out police detective is brought in and he spends the rest of the book - as does the reader - trying to solve the mystery. The strength of LIE TO ME clearly lies with it's main character Teddy Cammel. He is this great, completely three dimensional, and, above all flawed human being who becomes obsessed by this case (and as did I) will do almost anything to solve it.There's this great gimmick (and the title refers to it) that Cammel is kind of a human lie detector and I must say this helps the story roll along nicely and gives LIE TO ME just the extra spice it needs. I LOVED IT!Did I also mention there's some pretty gruesome stuff in here, which I - as a horrorbuff - love, but will (maybe?) turn off more mainstream thriller readers? The serial killer is up to some nasty things when he's cutting of human hands and going after little kids, so all you 'Michael Chrichton/ John Grisham lovers' be warned! To me LIE TO ME is top of the bill. Great suspense and mystery and an excellent police procedural. David Martin really succeeds in pulling the reader into this story and I must say I finished the book in what must be record time.Teddy Cammel returned in another of Martin's books, CUL-DE-SAC. I already bought that one and I just can't wait to read it!

FANTASTIC!!!!

The old saying is true, you can't judge a book by it's cover. The title sounded goofy, sounded cheesy....but what a fantastic book!! I only put this down to get some sleep. It's that good.Meet Dect. Camel. He's a burned out dect, who's just putting in the last few years so he can get full benfits when he retires. He's burned out. He drinks to much and sleeps at work. One day his life changes when he has to question a woman about the apparent suscide of her husband.A seral killer is lose. He has his sights on murdering a man....and get what's coming to him....what he think he deserves. And if he has to kill a few people along the way...so be it. This is a killer who's haunted by his past, and can't escape it.Soon Camel and the killer will come face to face....Martin has an outstading writing style, and that's rare these days. The reader will be glued to the page with many, many, plot twists. As you become engaged with this book, you can't put it down.If you like books that has a serial killer, violent, twisted and sick, then this is a book for you.I highly suggest this book. I can primise you won't be sorry...then as you get into the book...make sure your doors are locked.

AWESOME

SCARY- HELD MY ATTENTION FROM THE GET GO.AN EXTAORDINARY THRILLER TO SAY THE VERY LEAST. IN NO WAY WHAT SO EVER COULD YOU PREDICT THE ENDING OF THIS SORY. AFTER READING THIS BOOK, I REALIZED THAT SOME SECRETS ARE BETTER LEFT BURIED FOREVER. DAVID MARTIN DARES YOU TO FINISH THIS BOOK FROM THE VERY BEGINNING. DEEMED TO BECOME A CLASSIC.

Great read, but definitely not for the squeamish.

Excellent read, very difficult to put down once you start it. Just when you think you have the plot figured out, you get a curve ball in the way of a plot change. This book is very graphic and not for squeamish or readers prone to nightmares
