Ray Konen was a Second Lt. Bombardier in the US ARMY Airforces during WWII and wrote nearly 200 letters home to his girl back in Chicago, Shirley Rutledge. Ray remains stateside throughout the war in a constant whir of training and Shirley is a bank teller back in Chicago. Together they plan a life amidst the chaotic times.
