In "Letters from Kelly Bristol" the heterochromic* 7-year-old Kelly Bristol and her little sister Jordan, who is five years old, along with their parents, go on an around-the-world vacation. At each place they visit, Kelly sends her grandparents a short letter, trading off between her paternal and maternal grandparents. The Bristols visit Yosemite in California; Sedona, Arizona; Arches National Park, Utah; and the Continental Divide Trail in Colorado; they also take a ride on a steamboat on the Mississippi River near Hannibal, Missouri; then they continue on to Vermont; Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania; the Swiss Alps; Norway; Mount Roraima in South America; a jungle in Costa Rica; New Zealand; Mount Fuji, Japan; Crater Lake, Oregon; the Pacific Crest Trail in Washington State near Mount Rainier and, last but not least, Banff in Alberta, Canada. * "Heterochromic" means Kelly's eyes are not the same color; one is blue and the other one is brown.
