Book Overview

USA Today and Wall Street Journal best seller

Learn how life can be enhanced, how a corporate culture can be changed, how a family can be united--by living the simple lessons of a third-grade dropout.

We live in an era of low expectations. In fact, we tend to celebrate low expectations. The way in which we choose to live and work today is a far cry from the purposeful living of our parents.

Have we reached the point in our society where it is more important to look good rather than be good? Has the pride in doing good work been replaced by self-entitlement, perfect offices, and slick suits?

This book reacquaints readers with the wisdom--the common sense that was practiced simply and unwittingly by those who represent a generation gone by:

A generation that worked hard without complaining.A generation that did whatever was necessary to support their families.A generation that took pride in doing a good job.A generation that had high expectations for themselves and the others they were responsible for.

One such member of this generation was a third-grade dropout, a man who never hid behind any excuse. A man who never allowed his problems or lack of a formal education to determine his present or affect his future. A man who realized that destiny was a choice and not a chance.

This book communicates lessons from that man's life--the kind of wisdom that is rare in society today. It's the kind of wisdom that will help you be a better person, a greater leader, a more effective worker.

That man was Rick Rigsby's father, and this book contains his impactful, far-reaching story--of how a life can be enhanced, of how a corporate culture can be changed, of how a family can be united--by living the simple lessons of a third-grade dropout.

Quite An Education!

I'm not a third grade dropout. As a matter of fact I have an undergraduate and a law degree and an additional degree from the School of Hard Knocks. However, NONE of the education I received compares to the valuable lessons Dr. Rick Rigsby learned from his father [...]. I am fortunate to have picked up this book and read what Rick has taken the time to pass along to the rest of us. Read this book. Share it with your friends and family. Know that with each reading the world is being made a more special place to live. It is truly a book filled with life lessons that all should read and live by.

Amazing

This book is amazing. The author shares the knowledge of his father and role models who propelled him in his life. He does not use gradure or fame to define who he is, but simply stated words. He is guided by his father and the lessons he learned from him. I am blessed to have read this book. He spoke directly to my heart as he explains the loss of character, good judgement and accountability of this generation. He made me desire to stand firm in what I believe. He motivates me to reassess my character and attitude in my life. Thank you Mr. Rigsby and a thank you to your father. May all you do be blessed. Karen P.
