A New York Times Bestselling AuthorMegan Miller couldn't believe Pops was actually considering Davis Katcherton's offer to buy their amusement park! The fun-loving stranger was just some cocky, too-good-looking cowboy type with money to burn and a way of making her blush pinker than cotton candy. So why was she dreaming that hed make a very different offer?
This was the first romance novel I read, and as such found it to be quite interesting. As a male, the reasoning behind my interest in romance novels is probably not the same as that of the majority of the readership of this genre. Over half of all the books sold in this country fall in the "Romance" category. The readers of these novels are overwhelmingly female. This being the case, I felt it would be a good idea to at least become acquainted with a literary genre that is consumed so avidly by over half of the population. I found the book "Less of a stranger" rather fairy-taleish and simple in its structure, but my impression is that that is precisely what romance novels are meant to be. The descriptions of events are rich in adjectives, and in general, the narrative seems to strive to induce emotions in the reader. The plot is rather predictable: Rebelious, wealthy, handsome man (known as "Katch" in the book), meets young, naïve, artistically inclined, orphaned girl ("Megan" in the book). After a series of events, she somehow manages to have this indomitable man fall in love with her, and they end up getting married. She leaves her dull life in a small town to devote herself fulltime to her art, and her newly-found husband. Megan lives happily ever after, etc. I believe every man should read a romance novel or two. Not for their literary merit (which, in all honesty, I don't believe they have), but rather to reflect on what it is about them that fills the void present in so many women's lives. Much like visual pornography for men, I believe Romance novels serve as a sort of "emotional" pornography for women. Reading them can only help one understand the needs and fantasies of the female sex... and which man wouldn't want to better understand the women they love?
Not Too Bad!

I've only read this once so far, but I did enjoy it. In typical NR style, the ending was a bit predictable if you've read a lot of her books, especially some of the most recently released. That aside, this was an enjoyable read. Well worth the price! I will say that this was not my all-time favorite NR novel, but again, a good overall book, and a good weekend read. Can't wait for more!
