The eighty-odd poems in Leopards and Orchids are passionate, playful, and sometimes profound, written over the course of 63 years. Many are single-page poems of a romantic or erotic nature, some originally written as illustrated Valentine's Day or birthday cards. Others are longer narrative poems recounting events of emotional impact or simply amusing tales of life on the road or in the East Village. There are also several short fantasies featuring wizards, witches, and dragons, written in an archaic style. All the poems are in iambic rhythm and would benefit from being read aloud.
