Left Hand Guitar Player: Playing the Left Hand Guitar

The history of the left-hand guitar is as mysterious as the left handers. The earliest guitar like four string instruments first appeared in Egypt around 1440 BC. It is not clear if this guitar had a left-hand version or if people play left at that time. Chords form the basis of harmony in music. The approach and use of chords differ in every music genre. In African and gospel music, simple major or minor chords are used as an accompaniment to a soloist, solo instrument like saxophone or to a choir. In jazz music chords are used as part of soloing and improvisation and most often complex chords like thirteens and major seven flat nine are used. The strumming of the chord often determines the genre for instance in reggae music simple three chords are used as the basis for the complex bass line. All musical instruments can play arpeggios but only few instruments like piano and guitar can play chords. Chords can also be played by four or more instruments playing different voices simultaneously as in four-part harmony for example orchestra or music ensemble.
