Maggie meets the love of her life Matthew McGovern in a robbery that he has masterminded. Matthew is from a rough council estate and he wants a better life away from the grime of the council estate. Together they fall in love, get married and embark into the boxing world to make it big while also establishing a business which capitalises on Matthew's boxing prowess. But their marriage turns toxic over Matthew's ghastly behaviour and it ends in disarray. Maggie withdraws to lick her wounds while Matthew spirals out of control and heads towards bankruptcy. He reaches out to Maggie for assistance in one last attempt to save himself from the abyss.
